Students should expect to spend 8-16 hours on this self-paced online theory program. Once registered, students have 30 days to complete the course. Hazmat training does not include a background check or fees related to licensing.
This course requires that students hold a valid commercial learner's permit or commercial driver's license to which NIC can attach your completed training record in the FMCSA Training Provider Registry. Hazmat training does not require skills (behind-the-wheel) training to earn the endorsement; however, earning the "H" endorsement does require that you submit to a TSA background check (cannot be conducted until you hold a valid commercial driver's license) before you can schedule written Hazmat testing with the state of Idaho (if out of state, please speak with your local Dept of Licensing for any additional requirements).
Learn more about the TSA Hazardous Materials Endorsement background check at: https://www.tsa.gov/for-industry/hazmat-endorsement and reach out to your local Dept. of Licensing office for the most up-to-date information on additional steps required to earn the Hazmat endorsement.
