Registration and Classes
Who can attend Workforce Training Center classes?
Advertised classes are open to everyone. Unless otherwise specified, class content is designed for adult students age 18 or over. Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Are there prerequisites for any classes?
Prerequisites apply to some courses. Check the course description for details, or contact Customer Service at (208) 769-3214.
How do I register for classes?
You can register in any of the following ways:
- Online: Select your course, click "Add to Cart," and complete checkout.
- By phone: Call (208) 769-3214 and have your payment method ready.
- In person: Bring a completed registration form with check, cash, or credit card to our Post Falls office at 525 S Clearwater Loop.
When should I register?
Registration is open until a class fills or until four days before it starts. We strongly encourage early registration — many classes fill before the start date and low-enrollment classes may be canceled.
To guarantee your spot and ensure the class runs, register as early as possible and no later than one week before the start date.
Why are classes sometimes canceled?
Credit-free courses are self-supporting — all expenses are covered by student registration fees, not state funding. A class that does not reach minimum enrollment will be canceled.
If your class is canceled, you will be notified by email and/or phone. We will make every effort to transfer you to another section, find an alternative, or issue a full refund.
What about the waiting list?
If you are first on the waiting list and a seat opens up:
- We will contact you by phone and offer you the seat with payment.
- If we reach your voicemail, you will have 1 hour to respond with payment.
- If we cannot reach you by phone or voicemail, an email will go to everyone on the waiting list — the first person to respond with payment gets the seat.
Textbooks and Fees
What is the textbook policy?
Check the course description for one of these labels:
- Includes Textbook: Cost is included in tuition. You will receive the text at the first class.
- Textbook Optional: Not required, but available to purchase before the first class.
- Textbook Required / Extra: You must purchase the textbook before the first class.
When do I pay the supplies or materials fee?
Pay materials fees in cash directly to your instructor at the beginning of the first class meeting.
Is there out-of-state tuition?
No. There is no additional charge for students who are not Idaho residents. This waiver applies only to credit-free classes offered by the Workforce Training Center.
Refunds and Cancellations
What is the general refund policy?
To withdraw your registration and receive a full refund, you must notify the Workforce Training Center at least five full business days before the class starts. Your full registration fee will be refunded, transferred to another class, or issued as a credit voucher for a future class.
If you are enrolled in a course that costs $150 or more and are not satisfied after attending a maximum of eight hours of class or two sessions, you may request a partial refund, credit voucher, or transfer to another course.
Credit voucher conditions:
- Vouchers are not issued to students on a payment plan or using loan funds.
- Vouchers must be used within one year of issuance.
- Vouchers cannot be cashed in for a refund after issuance.
What happens if NIC cancels my class?
If NIC Workforce Training Center cancels a class you are enrolled in, you will be notified. You may then request any of the following:
- A full refund of your registration fee,
- Transfer of those funds toward tuition for another class, or
- An electronic voucher to hold those funds for use within 12 months toward a class of your choice.
What if I can no longer attend a class?
Notify the Workforce Training Center as soon as possible. To receive a full refund, transfer, or electronic voucher, you must contact the Center at least five full business days before the class starts.
Examples of the five-business-day deadline (Monday–Friday):
- For a class starting on Monday — notify us before the end of business on the Monday of the previous week.
- For a class starting on Friday — notify us before the end of business on the Friday of the previous week.
- For a class starting on Wednesday — notify us before the end of business on the Wednesday of the previous week.
If you meet that deadline, you may request a full refund, a transfer to another class, or an electronic voucher valid for 12 months.
How do I transfer my registration to a different class?
Notify the Workforce Training Center of your transfer request at least five full business days before the start of the class you are currently registered in.
- Email: [email protected]
- Phone: (208) 769-3214

Tax Forms
Will I receive a 1098-T form for tax purposes?
North Idaho College does not issue 1098-T forms for Workforce Training Center classes, as they are noncredit courses. Per IRS instructions, 1098-T forms are not required for courses that carry no academic credit.
Consult your tax advisor or IRS Publication 970 to find out if you can still claim educational expenses not reported on a 1098-T.
