Backcountry Survival Training

Backcountry Survival Training - BACK COUNTRY SAFETY
The Northwest offers many opportunities to enjoy the forest, rivers and lakes that make up what is called the backcountry.  However, those wishing to enjoy the backcountry need to realize that without proper precautions and preparation, it can be brutally unforgiving.  The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office and its Volunteer Search & Rescue organization, has developed a program to educate anyone venturing into our backcountry.  It consists of three main elements:  Communication, Preparation and Mental Control.  Come learn how to prepare for your trips to insure your safety, and if lost or injured, help us rescue you at quickly as possible.

Instructors are Senior Members of the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office Volunteer Search and Rescue Unit.
