Class Information Assistance with Medications

This course is required for unlicensed assistive personnel tasked with administering medications, including oral, topical, suppository, ear drops, eye drops, nasal, gastrostomy tube, and pre-mixed inhaled medications. Designed primarily for individuals caring for clients in home or assisted living settings, it is also beneficial for anyone involved in medication assistance. Understanding medication instructions and labels is a critical skill for safe healthcare practice.

Prerequisites

  • Age requirement: Must be 16 years old or older.

Location

This is a two-session, in-person class held at the North Idaho College Workforce Training Center in Post Falls, ID.

Class Notes

  • Written exam: The written exam can be taken only one time. Failure to pass requires re-taking the course.
  • Passing score: A passing score of 80% is required.
  • Course compliance: This course satisfies the requirements of IDAPA 16.03.19.402.01.
  • Early registration: Early registration is recommended, ideally at least one week before the class begins.
  • Employability: It is the responsibility of the student to verify that they are employable in their preferred occupation.
