Class Information
This course with supply the educational component to enable the apprentice to qualify to take the State of Idaho Appliance Specialty License Exam. The course will provide the apprentice with basic knowledge of various appliance installations and operations.
Requirements
Regular access to a Windows-based laptop and high-speed internet in order to complete the course is required (Chromebooks and cell phones are NOT compatible with the online portion of this course).
Apprentices will need their own copy of the 2017 Idaho State Uniformed Plumbing Code and/or 2015 Uniform Plumbing Code.

This course is delivered online through the Canvas classroom.
Class Notes
- Registration is available at any time. Access to the course content begins upon registration.
- The duration of this course consists of 72 hours of Related Technical Instruction (RTI) only. In addition, 3,000 hours or 18 months of On-the-Job Training (OJT) hours need to be submitted to DOPL to be eligible to test. On-the-Job Training (OJT) hours are not provided by NIC Workforce Training Center and must be completed outside of this course; those hours need to be specialty plumbing hours. Please reach out to the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL) if you have additional questions about OJT hours.
- This course is self-paced. You will have access to the RTI in Canvas for 5 months once enrolled.
- Complete the RTI with a 75% and the OJT requirements to be eligible to test with DOPL for licensure.
- Standard refund policy applies. Once the Canvas class has been accessed or it is seven or more days past the time of registration, no refunds will be issued.
