Class Information

Complete your Medical Assistant Apprenticeship and receive National Certification in this accelerated program for current health care professionals. Apply the knowledge and skills you gain in class directly to your workplace, supervised by a clinical preceptor. Dive into direct patient care and master essential clinical and administrative skills crucial for success in this high-demand field. As a Medical Assistant, you'll play a vital role in providing clinical services to patients and ensuring the smooth operation of health care facilities.

Two evening class sessions per week allow you to work normal hours. This course is taught by experienced Medical Assistants and allied health care professionals.

Prerequisites

  • Employment and Preceptor: You must be employed in a health care facility and have someone available to be a Clinical Preceptor who is either an RN, LPN, or an experienced Medical Assistant.
    • A list of employers is available upon request.
  • Unique Email Address: Each student must have a unique email address for registration.
  • Computer and Internet Access: Regular access to a Windows-based laptop and high-speed internet to complete the course is required (Chromebooks and cell phones are NOT compatible with the online portion of this course).
  • State Requirements: Please check with your state health care regulatory board before enrolling to ensure this program meets state requirements for your state certification.

Location

Hybrid Course: You will meet twice a week at the North Idaho College Sandpoint Center on Pine Street in Sandpoint, ID to work with an instructor and practice hands-on skills. Additional coursework is completed online in the Canvas classroom.

Registration Includes
  • Textbooks, online study programs, supplies, and exam fees are included in tuition.
Dress Code
  • Cherokee brand Hunter green scrub top and black pants (by the third week of class)
Venipuncture
  • Due to the nature of this class, please understand that venipuncture practice on students will be expected. Don’t worry; there will be plenty of simulation practice prior.
Drug Screening
  • Random drug screens may occur and will be provided in class. You must demonstrate clearance to remain in class.
