Class Information

Increase your career potential with this advanced course for Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) focusing on rehabilitation and restorative care. Course topics include assisting nursing staff and physical, occupational, and speech therapists in the rehabilitation of patients with neurological, musculoskeletal, and orthopedic conditions. Course fee includes textbooks and the Idaho Career and Technical Certified Restorative Assistant exam.

Prerequisites

  • Proof of being a current CNA
  • A copy of your current Health Providers CPR card
  • A computer with or regular access to a computer with high-speed internet capabilities is required

Location

This is a hybrid class with both in-person and online components:
  • In-Person: Students meet in person weekly at the North Idaho College Sandpoint Center in Sandpoint, ID, to work with an instructor and practice hands-on skills.
  • Online: The theory component is completed in the Canvas classroom.
  • Clinical Experience: Days and times will be discussed in class.
Online Option for Students Outside the Sandpoint Area
Students living outside the Sandpoint areaa may take this course online via Zoom.
  • If you are employed by a facility: You must have someone at your facility to supervise hands-on skills introduced in class.
  • If you are not employed by a facility: There may be an option to complete the clinical experience at a facility near your location.
  

Clinical Preparation

  • Black Scrub top and any color scrub bottom.
  • Security badge (provided)
  • 2-step TB test within the past 6 months
  • Current Health Providers CPR card
  • Influenza vaccination in season
  • A COVID vaccination, exemption, and/or declination may be required at some clinical sites. Students will explore clinical site options with their instructor in class
  • Facility Orientation/Confidentiality packet (completed on the first day of class)
It is best to register at least one week before class begins.
