At this time, North Idaho College is only accepting Idaho residents into the Class A Commercial Driver’s Training program. Please call the Workforce Development team at 208-769-3264 with questions about eligibility for residents of other states.
At the start of theory and skills training, students will need to:
- Have registered and paid for the program in full (or have an approved payment plan arrangement)
- Have completed all prerequisite documentation that is required of CDL students
- Complete a DOT physical exam and drug screen at NIC’s approved provider (fees covered by the program)
- Be in possession of a valid Idaho Class A Commercial Learner’s Permit with no restrictions related to equipment (must be able to train on equipment with airbrakes) (student is responsible for fees associated with permitting – contact the local DMV for info on how to obtain your permit)
Students from Idaho aged 18-20 are welcome to participate in this CDL program; however, Idaho does not permit drivers under the age of 21 to drive in an interstate capacity at this time.
The standard refund policy applies; additionally, no refunds will be issued once the Canvas class has been accessed, and if the DOT Physical and Drug Screen Voucher is redeemed, the expenses for these services will be deducted from any refund owed.
