The Part 48 Instructor Training Course prepares participants to become MSHA-approved instructors by developing the skills needed to deliver mine safety and health training effectively. Throughout the course, students explore instructional methods, lesson planning, presentation techniques, and adult learning principles, with an emphasis on creating clear, engaging, and compliant training environments. Participants who complete the course and receive approval from their respective MSHA district office will be endorsed as MSHA-approved instructors, qualifying them to conduct 30 CFR Part 48 health and safety training.
Requirements/Pre-requisites:
- Be an Experienced Miner, as defined by 30 CFR § 48.2 & 22 (b) (1), (b) (2)
- Have three years of verifiable working experience at a Part 48 Mine (Documentation required: 5000-23s for New Miner and Annual Refresher Trainings)
- Possess a verifiable and relevant level of previous training experience, especially in occupational health and safety. The training experience should be relevant to the mining industry.
Additional Course Information
- A laptop is required.
- This workshop is not designed to provide subject-matter expertise in the various mining topics. It is assumed that you have the appropriate and relevant mining experience before taking this course.
- Completion of the course does not guarantee instructor endorsement. Final approval issued by MSHA
