Introduction to Fly-Casting

Spend the afternoon on the beach at NIC learning the basics of setting up and casting a fly rod. Participants are welcome to bring their own rod and reel or use one of ours. No experience is necessary to begin your lifetime journey of fly-fishing. Students must be 18 years of age or older.

Please read: 

Be prepared for Idaho’s weather. Bring snacks and water, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, raincoat, and a bathing suit–whatever you need for comfort.

Class meets at the NIC Beach. meet at the NIC Beach. From the NIC Lee-Kildow Hall parking lot, cross the dike road (Rosenberry Drive) and take the stairs to the beach.

All equipment used in class activities is provided unless otherwise stated. Note- SWRC Rock Climbing classes are held indoors and are not weather-dependent.

**All Outdoor Pursuits clinics are weather dependent. While our instructors will do their best to reschedule sessions that are cancelled due to poor weather, we cannot guarantee that all sessions offered will be completed.

If your schedule does not match our offerings, Outdoor Pursuits can often schedule a private lesson in sailing, kayaking, rock climbing, or other outdoor adventures. Please contact us (208-769-7809 or terry.brinton@nic.edu) to talk about the needs of your group if you are interested.
